The 2nd World- Strongman Cup was held in the Russian capital of Moscow.
In this challenge of the superstrength, the "World's Strongest Man 2001" Janne Virtanen from Finland presented his unbeatable powers before World- Strongman Cup Federation's newcomer from Bulgaria, Stoyan Todorchev and WSMC-debutant Derek Boyer from Australia!
But Janne’s victory was insecure from the very first minute.
Already in the first discipline, the Truckpull, he was beaten by Dominic Filiou, who suffered from a jet lag due to his long arrival from Canada. Boris Haraldsson from Iceland presented in this discipline his best achievement in taking the 5th place.
Stoyan Todorchev, the amazing youngster fro Bulgaria, surely regarded the Truckpull as a "warm-up" , released all his strongman- powers in the forms of running, carrying and mental strength in the Farmer’s Walk and was able to carry the 2 x 150 kilo heavy weights for 59.5 metres, 10 metres farer than Janne Virtanen.
Florian Trimpl from Germany presented himself in top- form and managed it to carry the weights for 25.6 metres! His intensive training of the last time made an impact, the World- Strongman Cup and all its fans can be anxious about his further development and his performances in Leipzig/ Germany on August, 11th , 2007 !
Rolands Gulbis from Latvia, who had to act for his hurt compatriot Raivis Vidzis, carried the in total 300 kg weights for 25 metres.
During the 3rd discipline, Sebastian Wenta from Poland increased the thrill additionally in carrying the 380 kilo Conan’s Wheel for 630° (nearly 2 rounds)! He was followed by the Russian Dmitry Kononec, who managed 495°. Dmitry combined all his powers in the Deadlift and achieved impressive 28 lifts, 3 lifts more than Janne Virtanen.
The World- Strongman Cup debutant, Derek Boyer from Australia, achieved 23 lifts and astonished the strongman- world in lifting himself due to his constant good performances of the competition deservedly to the third place.
Pavel Sorocka from Belarus presented his best achievements of the competition in achieving 475° at the Conan’s Wheel.
The Medley was combined of 3 barrels and a Duck Walk. Janne Virtanen presented his "the World’s Strongest Man 2001" -powers in finishing the last but one discipline in unbelievable 20.91 seconds. Stoyan Todorchev was pipped at the post by Janne in only 0.9 seconds.
Dave Ostlund from the USA presented himself at its best and finished the Medley in 22.23 seconds. During the whole competition, the young American showed a good and strong performance, but he got conscious about his powers not until the last discipline, the Atlas Stones, which have been finished by him in only 14.48 seconds.
Vladimir Bondarenko, the Russian WSMC debutant, showed here his best achievement of the cup in finishing the Medley in 23.91 seconds.
The Atlas Stones of weights between 120 kilos and 160 kilos formed the last discipline. Due to Dave Ostlund’s amazing performance, Sebastian Wenta was pipped at the post with 15.65 seconds. Stoyan Todorchev threw himself to the third with 15.81 seconds.
Kirill Shimko, Vasilij Agafonov and Mostaba Maleki participated, too, and presented themselves in a remarkable strength!
The competition has really been a clash of powers, and the upcoming event in London/ England on July 22nd, 2007 can be expected with thrill!
